Position Summary
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides personal care and supportive services to patients in their homes under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed clinician. The CNA assists with activities of daily living (ADLs), monitors basic health needs, and helps promote comfort, safety, and independence for patients receiving home health care.
Key Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.

Provide mobility support, including ambulation, transfers, and positioning.

Take and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.

Observe, document, and report changes in patients’ physical or emotional condition to supervising nurse.

Assist with simple prescribed exercises and encourage safe activity as directed by the care plan.

Perform basic household tasks to maintain a safe and clean environment for the patient.

Provide companionship and emotional support to patients and families.

Follow infection control and safety procedures at all times.

Support patients with cognitive or memory-related conditions (e.g., dementia, Alzheimer’s).

Maintain confidentiality and uphold patients’ dignity and rights.
Qualifications
-
Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in Maryland.

Active listing on the state nurse aide registry.

Completion of state-approved CNA/GNA program.

Home health experience preferred, but not required.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Compassionate, patient, and reliable.

Ability to follow care plans and work under supervision.

Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, move, and transfer patients.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching.

Ability to travel to patients’ homes.
